Alright, alliterations aside (crap!), this last month has been full of fun updates and improvements to Nimia. Here’s some highlights!
Collection Password and Presentations
In response to quite a few requests, collections and transfers both received a major facelift and functional overhaul over this past couple weeks. First, as the image above shows, collections can now be toggled to a “presentation” mode that will remove many other elements from the page and bring focus to the collection’s owner and content. This new view will also be the default for unregistered users.
Wait, unregistered?! Yeah! You can now change the privacy setting on collections (and transfers) to use password access instead. Pass along the URL given on creation and the password to whomever you’d like and they’ll see your beautiful content with no distractions!
Search results
No, for real! Searching has been vastly improved to return more reliable results. Basically, we reverse engineered the gigatokenization wordnet hydroprocessors to beef up our linear exponential nurb algorithm to produce more accurate search results. Or, for the more technical folk, we added synonym matching, handle plurals, and split strings on certain characters so you can search “Brain Farm” instead of “BRAIN_FARM”, for example.
Check out this sweet video!
Just kidding, you’ll have to browse our archives for sweet videos. And while you’re there, check out those new Facebook and Twitter buttons that let you share the videos on Nimia!
Nerd aside: We had to work on server side rendering to let a) Google find us and b) Facebook generate those sweet social previews. Interested in a more nerdy tech update with some info on how we handled server side rendering? Email [email protected] and tell him to get on that!Notifications
“You’ve got mail!”… nooo!
You do have instant notifications, however! A new notification setting will allow you to get instant email notifications for important Nimia activity!
New Landing site
“Hey… this blog article looks kind of different.”
You’re right! It does look pretty cool! This new landing site will serve as both a point of communication for all things Nimia, various legal resources, and even a few goodies from time to time!
Well, that’s all folks. Until next time!
